Night Summary & Signpost Blog

Night by Elie Wiesel talks about Elie's experience during Holocaust and what he did to survive.  Elie is 12 yrs old and Nazis propaganda starts spreading throughout Europe and things start to get extreme.  Elie and his family get sent to a ghetto which happens to be in the neighborhood they live in.  Elie and his family then get sent to a concentration camp where Elie goes through life threatening and changing experiences.

In Night there is a part in the book when there is a Aha Moment and it impacts the story.  Elie's dad is sick with dysentery and 2 doctors tell him he can't be saved and its pointless to feed him and he should get his ration of food.  Elie realizes they're right and they take his dad.

  1. Wow! That's a very intense part of the story. What does that "a-ha moment" tell you about the conflict, or theme, or even just about Elie? Try to elaborate when discussing a signpost.
