Byrd and Igloo A Polar Adventure Summary & Again & Again

Byrd and Igloo successfully fly over the North Pole with this accomplishment Byrd gets an award from the president.  After getting the award Byrd plans for another expedition Byrd wants to fly over the Atlantic Ocean.  Byrd wants to do it a specific way though he wants to fly over Atlantic Ocean without stopping.  Byrd kept Igloo and he now lives in Byrd's home with his family.  Byrd and Igloo are ready to start their expedition but they need money to fund it.

Throughout the story Byrd's will and perseverance is talked about.  Byrd was told he couldn't join the Navy and be a pilot but in the end he did.  Byrd did things that seemed impossible back then but he wanted to do more prove that nothing is impossible.  People doubted Byrd his whole life and now he's proving them wrong.

Byrd & Igloo A Polar Adventure Summary & Character Analysis

Byrd & Igloo A Polar Adventure by Samantha Seiple is a nonfiction book which tells the story of Byrd and Igloo.  Byrd is a navy pilot planning a expedition to the North Pole by airplane.  Igloo is a slender dog who happens to be Byrd's companion on his expedition.  Byrd prepares for expedition and brings Igloo with him.  Byrd and his crew stop in Norway so Byrd can take off but one of Byrd's competitors has beaten him.  Byrd gets no access to the dock so he has his crew make a raft and get to shore.  Byrd tries to take off but his plane ends up crashing and his landing gear gets destroyed.  Byrd fails 2 more times but takes off on his 4th attempt.


Byrd is a aging aviator who accomplished things people thought were impossible.  Throughout his life Byrd was told he couldn't do the things he wanted to do.  Byrd broke his ankle 3 times he was told he couldn't join the Navy but in the end he did.  Byrd is determined and adventurous throughout the book he his told he can't do something but he ends up doing it.  Byrd has gone on many adventures he flew over the North Pole and accomplished many other feats.

Bad Boy Summary & Again & Again

Walter now in high school is placed in Special Placement classes which is advanced classes.  Since Walter is getting older he needs more clothes but his family is currently in poverty.  Walter had to get a part time job so he can get clothes and give money to his mother.  Walter's mother got a gambling addiction and Walter gave her money so she can save for him.  Ultimately she wasted it on the lottery.  Walter wanted a typewriter but his mother gambled the money way and he wanted to be a writer.


Throughout the book Walter says he wants to be writer but he doesn't want to tell anyone because he's embarrassed.  Walter reads and writes in private because he thought reading and writing was wasn't masculine.  Walter wanted to be viewed as a masculine person and couldn't be seen writing or reading.  He aspired to be a writer and in the end he did.
